Why?
• If a student is receiving special education services, his/her progress towards his/her individual goals needs to be reviewed and updated annually.
• Provides the team with an opportunity to discuss and plan for the student.
What happens at this meeting?
• Each team member, including parents, provides the team with an update on the student’s progress for the year.
• Each team member can share concerns they have for the student.
• The team creates appropriate goals and objectives to address the student’s needs.
• The team reviews the student’s current placement and determines if it is still appropriate for the student’s level of needs.
• The team determines what related services this student may require and how often these services should occur.
• The team will also address areas such as state testing, extended school year services, and transition planning.

• Additional team members if the student’s program may change, or a transition is taking place.
